First debut: 1/2004 2005 Scion tCThe Third Scion of Toyota Makes Its Debut. DETROIT - Scion, a new youth oriented marque of Toyota, showed off its third model at the North American International Auto Show. Unlike the other two models for Scion, the tC is more conservative. The tC sports coupe completes Scion's three car national launch strategy. The design of the tC looks like a blend of other models currently in the marketplace. The front end looks like a Subaru or a Volvo. The headlights somewhat resembles the BMW 645 Ci. The rear end looks Audi-ish to us. The interior, like the exterior, has a sporty look to it. However, unlike the exterior, the interior looks slightly industrial as well. We think Scion did a really good job designing the interior. It should bode well with its target audience and more. The tC is powered by Toyota's 2.4 liter DOHC 4-cylinder 2AZ-FE engine with VVT-i. In the Scion it will produce 160 horsepower at 5,700 rpm. Which is comparable to car in its class. If 160 horsepower just doesn't cut it for you, there will also be an optional dealer installed TRD developed supercharger that will increase output to approximately 200 horsepower. Handling should as be comparable or better. The tC has front MacPherson struts, double-wishbone rear suspension, and 17-inch wheels. Whether it's affordability, power, design or features most people should find the tC sports coupe to be what they are looking for. The Scion tC will debut alongside the xA and xB during Scion's national launch in June. Driving off
